Our own Dennis Rietze served as President of the Thousand Lakes Region of the NMRA for two years. His appointment was announced at the TLR's annual convention, which was held in Thunder Bay, Ontario in May of 2015.  Dennis took over the reins from Gerry Miller, who served as President for five years. Dennis was also the No. 1 Northern Superintendent from 2010 to 2016.

 

  Dennis is a superb and inventive model railroader. His greatest triumph was his design and construction of a layout built in the crawl space of his split level house, which has a clearance of just four feet. Dennis' layout was featured in an issue of Canadian Railway Modeller and in a segment of Breakfast Televison, promoting the Manitoba Mega Train Show.

Dennis has moved to an apartment and is building a layout in a spare bedroom that is modular and handicap accessible.
