Other publications
I've also contributed rail fan and model railroad cartoons to Trains Magazine (a Kalmbach publication) , The Fusee (the official newsletter of the Thousand Lakes Region of the National Model Railroad Association), and The Lantern (the official newsletter of the Winnipeg Model Railroad Club). I've also contributed cartoons to Fifty and Beyond, a publication of the Manitoba Society of Seniors. Below is a slide show of some of these works. Click on the image to start the show!
I wrote and illustrated a story for the February 2006 issue of Trains Magazine, titled "Riding the Hippie Train". It was a true story about how my wife Margaret and I rode CN's Supercontinental from Vancouver to Winnipeg in search for a job back in 1975.
This is one of my favourite pieces. I drew this for the Archdiocese of Winnipeg for the Public Way of the Cross in 1998, which was held at St. Anthony of Padua Church.
I did this for 50 and Beyond. Pictured left to right are Hilt Friesen and vern Gibson. Hilt and vern owned Elmwood Hobby works for many years in Winnipeg. I drew dozens of cartoons of Hilt over the years, and he used to display them in his store! Sadly, Hilt passed away in 2008, and his shop went out of business in 2013.
